Cranberry & Oat Cookies

Cranberry & Oat Cookies

You really must try these cookies, they are seriously good.  One is certainly never enough!  I ate 3 in quick succession (shhh, don't let Mr E know!) yesterday morning having just tackled the weekly shop!

Kitchenalia #2 - Cat Crockery!

Yeah, you read it correctly!  Cat-crockery.  Crockery for the cat in your life!  Well why not?

Recently our boy's usual plate was chipped by his mummy.  That's me!  I'm just so clumsy! It's not too disastrous because said chip is on the underside of the plate.  But, the other day I spent a few minutes browsing the internet to see what sort of things were available.

Asparagus Salad with Baked Egg

An easy, delicious and warm salad, which includes sauted asparagus, coddled (baked) egg and croutons.  It's a must make when asparagus is in season!

Asparagus Salad with Baked Egg

In honour of the fact that the new season British asparagus will be about to hit our shelves, here is a really easy, delicious and healthy vegetarian asparagus salad.  I say healthy because not all salads are actually healthy.  Being smothered in dressings they often contain more calories than burger and chips!

Blueberry & Lemon Cupcakes, with a rippled cream cheese frosting

Blueberry & Lemon Cupcakes, with a rippled cream cheese frosting

You'll never guess what Mr E & I saw this last weekend (steady with those guesses!), whilst on our weekly jaunt.

Ten baby mallard chicks!  Yes, ten cute bundles of fluff, well cute bundles of feathers actually!  We just hope that most of them survive the coming days and weeks to be able to reach adulthood.

Langues du Chat Biscuits

Langues du Chat Biscuits with a Lemon Posset

Langues du Chat.  I fell in love with this biscuit even before I made it.  Langues du Chat.  It's such a great name.  And although I dropped French (and German for that matter) whilst taking my 'options' at school, I can inform you that Langues du Chat translates as cat's tongue.  The reason is evident, it's simply because of the shape of the biscuit. To name a biscuit 'cat's tongue' just wouldn't sound quite right in English, but in French it sounds wonderful.  Langues du Chat.

Tomato Chutney

Beautiful Ripe Tomatoes
Even though tomatoes feature quite heavily in our day-to-day cooking, I've never made a tomato chutney or relish before. Never. Not even once!

Well, that has now changed!

Lemon Posset - A Taste from History

Lemon Posset

In recent years, this refreshing and simple dessert has undergone quite a revival - and there's no wonder, it's seriously lovely & terribly simple to make.

Easy-Peasy Soda Bread

Soda Bread
Soda Bread & Jam

Have you ever fancied making a loaf of bread but either didn't have the time to wait for it to do it's thing; wanted it quite promptly; didn't have the energy to knead for 10 minutes; or even didn't really know how to?  Well in that case, why not make a loaf of Soda Bread?

Beetroot, Tomato and Feta Cheese Flan

Beetroot, Tomato & Feta Cheese Flan
Beetroot, Tomato & Feta Cheese Flan.
Just this last weekend Mr E & I did some baking.  It's not often that Mr E wears a pinny in the kitchen, but when he does he's a fantastic helper.  Gold star to my lovely hubby I think!

I had recently come across a 'beetroot & feta cheese tart' recipe in the Asda magazine.  We adapted this by adding a layer of tomato sauce (not ketchup I hope you understand) onto the pastry base.  For us, including my parents, this made a really positive adaption. The beetroot gave a lovely spike of colour and texture whilst the feta cheese gave that lovely slightly-salty hit.

The A-Z of Me (part 2)

Our blue-eyed boy
Well last week I jumped onto the 'A-Z of me' band wagon in an effort to introduce myself to the blogging world. I've been really pleased with the number of readers I've had for Part 1, and therefore, given that you've probably not slept in anticipation of part 2 (haha), I thought I'd better get part 2 out there!  So here it is, and less of the jest, thank you so much for reading.  It's very heart warming.

Chit for Chips

"Huh", I hear you cry.  "What's she talking about, chit for chips".
Well, let me tell you, it's all about potatoes.  The humble potato.

I realise many people now a days seem to avoid eating carbs, potatoes obviously being included there.  But I can honestly say that that isn't the case in our household.  Mr E regularly tells me "you can't ever have enough potatoes!" and a potato delivery van in our home town carries the motto "eat more potatoes" which Mr E wants to buy!! Well not really, but you get my drift?

The A-Z of Me (part 1)

If you're wondering who the 'newbie' to the blogging world is, then keep reading!

There are quite a few A-Z's doing the rounds at the moment, which I've really enjoyed reading.  Does that make me nosy?  I hope not.  I just think it's nice to learn a little more about the blog's author.
